hi, my last post wasnt very clear. can anybody tell me how a game engine (for instance, the Irrlicht engine) loads a .lib file for it's use? because i created a very simple engine and i compiled it to create a .lib and a .dll . . . . . but how do you use it? any help (including some source) will be highly appreciated thanks

include the header file that defines what symbols are in the library.

link your new project with that library.

make sure the dll is in the same directory as your new project's exe.

He mentions a game engine specifically. I'm going to say he actually meant how to load the DLL.

If that's what he meant to say, you can either link with the lib (directions are given) or load the DLL dynamically with LoadLibrary, obtaining the functions inside with GetProcAddress.
