Accessing globals from multiple source files

iv been working on a tile based rpg, and its become increasingly necessary to access variables over several f my source files (EG. tileengine.cpp, inputProc.cpp Ect.). But when i try and do this with a simple .h file with the declarations in it, i get a heap of redefinition errors, that look somewhat like this: Error LNK2005: "ResolutionLevelX" (?ResolutionLevelX@@3JA) Already Defined in WinMain.obj. this is probably a stupid question, but this has never been much of an issue (this is my first major game).
