Hi friends, In 3ds max and maya we group certain objects. How can we retrieve, meshes and attributes of those meshes in groups? Regards, vz7. Hi friends, Has anyone got the source code to load x files in OpenGL. How do we retreive textures from LPDIRECT3DTEXTURE9* m_pMeshTextures? Is it possible to retrieve as bmp files? I would like to know with respect to the OptimizedMesh sample in DX9b sdk. Thank you very much. Regards, vz7 How do we get the vertices of each strip? Vz7 Waht is the meaning of strip length like this: m_rgcStripLengths[iStrip]. vz7 Does m_pStripsMany contain all the indices of the vertex's in all the strips in the paricular material? How do we access the indexes of a particular strip in a particular material. I used like this m_MeshAttrSorted.m_rgStripData[MaterialNumber7].m_pStripsMany[StripNumber7]->Lock( 0, 0,(void**)&pIndices, D3DLOCK_NOSYSLOCK ); This works for strip 0 but not greater than that. Is it because we have to unlock the index buffer. But there is no unlock associated with index buffer. That is the compilation error. vz7 Hi, Does strip length means number triangles in the strip? so in m_MeshAttrSorted.m_rgStripData[MaterialNumber7].m_pStripsMany->Lock( 0, 0,(void**)&pIndices, D3DLOCK_NOSYSLOCK ); Is it like first strip indices will be 0 offset and the next strip indices will be 3*Striplength[0]. Regards, vz7. [Edited by - vz7 on October 12, 2004 4:17:50 AM]

.X File allows you instances.
For example: each D3DX FRAME in a X file contains a MATRIX & a MESH.

In case you do not fully declare a mesh, you instance it. that is done by {BOX}.

So you can have many BOXES or even better CYLINDERS for example in a temple, but the mesh will be just one but with increased instance count.
