[.net] VS .NET 2003 - how to erase links to wrong libraries in a project
hi fellows,
some time ago, I posted here about a problem with crystal reports, that it didn't show some things but others fine, in a really mystical manner.
I found the error to be that here crystal reports 10 is installed separately, and there were some libs mixed with an older version of CR, probably the one that is installed with .NET by default.
(I clearly identified this to be the problem, by renaming a folder and copying the one of the newer version into its parent folder in the common files/crystal reports folder, and then it all worked perfectly...)
Now, that I'm pretty new to VS .NET ..., I can only find a window that shows me what libaries are in the project - and it shows me mixed versions. but in that window I wasn't able to delete any of this libs or better said exclude from project.
Can someone please tell me where I would do this?
Moving files to places they haven't been installed to isn't exactly the cleanest way :D
erm, btw, I use C#.
thanks,
unshaven
in your solution explorer usualy on the left hand side in vs.net 2003 there is an item called references. its as simple as right clicking on the reference and hitting remove.
ah, you again, thanks again ;-)
well it's strange. I thing this was the window where I tried this before, at least it looks like that heh, and the "delete" (or remove?? or whatever there may stand in the english version...) was grayed out, on matter what I did, how wildly I clicked on the links hehe.
now it just worked fine, I added the correct link, moved everything in the folders where it was, and all works fine.
hrm, is there a way to prevent VS .NET from including these evil libs in new projects in the future?
(I looked under system control/software, chose VS .NET, but I didn't see an option to _remove_ single components like you have with windows setup, so it seems I can't uninstall only the CR stuff. well or maybe the options' description texts (at least in the german version heh) aren't as descriptive as their name suggests )

In order to get some of those Crystal Report tools in your project, you had to specifically include them in Project->Add Reference->Crystal Reports.whatever
Those references will only be in your projects if you make them, so it shouldn't be a problem in the future unless you want to continue to use Crystal Reports in your projects.

I did not manually nor knowingly make them.
You're funny, do you think I'd ask If I myself made them?

I suppose I'll have to.

Well, that's the way I had to do it so I assumed you had done this as well. Either way, there's also a set of Crystal Reports controls you can add to the main controls list. If you start any new projects, You really shouldn't see those references unless you include one of the CR objects.
