DDraw, FreeImage, & Transparency

Anyway, I've been playing around with FreeImage to draw a PNG. It's very easy to get something on the Screen with it using StretchDIBits. But this function apparently doesn't support transparency. So, anyone out there know a better way to get a FIBITMAP onto a DirectDraw Surface? And as nicely as I can put it, I don't need any help being told I need to be using Direct3d. -Daichi
