I posted this in the Help Wanted section and figured I'd also post it here, since it applies to both. I thought I'd stop by and invite everyone to come by and download a 7.5pre copy of XConq, an open-source strategy game engine. It's already got an extensive library of games, but many of them are based on older versions of the engine, and so they don't take advantage of some of the new features. The basic game is based on an old strategy game, but if you take a look at (shameless plug) Opal, A World Lost Slowly or Star Fleet Battles, which I happened to design, you can see that it can be pretty fun. It isn't an MMORPG and it isn't 3D, but it's stable and extensible. Then, if you're interested in helping out, we're moving it to SDL (The current interface is TCL/TK, so it looks more like an app than a game) and good 2D artists would be treated like gods. And heck, it's open-source, so feel free to make it 3D and massively multiplayer, I won't complain. website: http://www.xconq.org/ most recent build: http://xconq_hacker.home.comcast.net/ mailing list: http://sources.redhat.com/ml/xconq7/2004/
