I need a little help

OK. I can code the first basic alpha release to my game. Before i do that, i need a program that will give me graphics as good as those in Myst or Riven. Can anyone guide me to a program that will generate graphics that good?
If you don''t mind spending 1000$ or something like that, 3D Studio MAX is the standard.
POV-Ray is nice because it can do nearly everything and it''s complete Freeware. The only bad point is, that you don''t get an editor but tell POV-Ray what it should do via a text file. Quite nice once you know your way about the language.

Well, whats your ''look'' ?
If a ''rendered'' look; a 3d modeler like Rhino3d would be good.
If a ''drawn'' look, you want to find a good paint program. PSP 6 is good for that. So is Photoshop.
Personally, i would combine the two looks.
