16 bit textures (ogl)

does ogl support 16bit textures? somehow i recall someone saying that it supports 16bit and 32bit textures only, but then how would you pass it to glTexImage2D()?

pass eg GL_RGB5 in the internal formal parm
also GL_RGB5_A1 , GL_R3_G3_B2 etc

the etc means theres heaps more to many to list

ya, i looked,didn''t see anything for 5-6-5,isaw 3-3-2,4-4-4, 5-5-5, etc but no 5-6-5

ya know what? i think theres something with my ogl, which version comes with vc6? is it the latest? I already noticed that glTexture3D() isn''t in the helpfiles yet my OGL book talks ''bout ''em
