Interview Questions - What can I expect?
Hello everyone, how's it going?
I've landed an interview (for graduate programmer) a week on Monday for a pretty class studio. Anyone got some sample (programming or otherwise) questions similar to the kind of question I might be asked and hints on the main points I should be delivering on them? I don't need full answers (unless it's non programming related in which case some pointers would be great) as I will try to work it out myself and come back if I need help.
Any general advice would also be very welcome
Thanks loads in advance.
These are all questions I've been asked in the past:
Why do you want to get into the games industry?
Why do you want to work for us?
What is your favorite game and why?
What is the best feature of Game X, and the worst?
Why did Diablo2 sell so well? The Sims?
What do you do in your spare time?
If you could have any job in the world what would it be?
Where do you want to be in 5 years? 10 years?
What would your reaction be if I told you that we occasionally don't get paychecks on time?
What would your reaction be if I told you that you will sometimes have to work for a month with no days off?
Various technical questions to see if you understand the language, subject matter, and thinking outside the box. I've been asked questions about the back of the book on C++ and lots of math.
Any questions? (This one is very important)

About your last point...
I meant to mention that in my first post. What are some good questions to ask? I always struggle to think of things that are relevant and useful. If someone could help me here, that would be great.

You'll want to ask questions for your own peace of mind such as, "The gaming market has become very cut throat and many developers are going out of business. How are your shares doing and is money currently a worry for you??". Trust me this is important to know. I didn't ask this of the last company I was working for and it was only after I was settled having moved house and the like that I found out their shares were plummeting. 7 months later they went bankrupt and now I have to go through all the effort of moving house again for a new job and trying to exract 2 months worth of pay which wasn't given to me. *cough* Acclaim you suck *cough*. But as well as this stuff you also want to ask questions which express your interest for gaming such as, "If I get a flash of inspiration regarding the game I'm working on will I be allowed to try out my ideas?", and, "If the game is running behind schedual are you the type of company to consider extending the project to allow us to produce a AAA title or will you just want it rushed on the shelves?". Its nice to know that a company will let you stamp your ideas on a game and help you create a work history of good titles. These are the things games companies will look at when you become more experienced and demand a higher wage. Get stuck with the wrong company early on and get a string of duff games to your name and it could hinder your progression through the industry for the rest of your career.
