game protocol - looking for info

Hello! I am looking for some resources on how to design a nice game networking protocol. Im not talking about stuff like reliable udp and such, i have all that done already. But rather how to design the whole network game part, what to send, how often, how to manage what "actors" are tied to which player, etc.. If anyone know a open source game that has a nice and easy to understand network part or maybe some other resource that would be great. Thanks in advance!

The FAQ has pointers to such material. The various high-level network engines pointed at by the FAQ also have descriptions of various approaches.
