My quick question is : Is there a limit for an index buffer ? D3DFMT_INDEX16 means that only WORD is allowed for index. max vertex index :65536. But the max capacity is equal to 65536 ? Thanks for any help.

Are you sure ?

D3DFMT_INDEX16 it only means that the max vertex index you can specify 2^16.

The num of indices can not be equal or less than 2^16. Or Am i wrong. Have I not got 100000 WORD indices in an (D3DFMT_INDEX16)index buffer ?

You mean: can not be equal or more then 2^16?
Anyway, you can always split it up into smaller chunks.

Thanks, so it means no ?

But why ? Why is this restriction ?

The interesting part of this is that in debug mode writes invalid index numbers. But these invalid indices are below 20000, and my indices after 65535 index count are greater than 30000.
???

Solved. Max capacity 2^16.

I used the minindex(DIP) trick and my index buffer size drop to 1000 index ! I got some speed boost too, 30 %.
