The GameDev.net FreeBook is relevant to game designers, developers, and those interested in learning more about the challenges in game development. The free ebook is available through CRC Press by clicking here. The Curated Books The Art of Game Design: A Book of Lenses, Second Edition, by Jesse Schell Presents 100+ sets of questions, or different lenses, for viewing a game’s design, encompassing diverse fields such as psychology, architecture, music, film, software engineering, theme park design, mathematics, anthropology, and more. Written by one of the world's top game designers, this book describes the deepest and most fundamental principles of game design, demonstrating how tactics used in board, card, and athletic games also work in video games. It provides practical instruction on creating world-class games that will be played again and again. View it here. A Practical Guide to Indie Game Marketing, by Joel Dreskin Marketing is an essential but too frequently overlooked or minimized component of the release plan for indie games. A Practical Guide to Indie Game Marketing provides you with the tools needed to build visibility and sell your indie games. With special focus on those developers with small budgets and limited staff and resources, this book is packed with tangible recommendations and techniques that you can put to use immediately. As a seasoned professional of the indie game arena, author Joel Dreskin gives you insight into practical, real-world experiences of marketing numerous successful games and also provides stories of the failures. View it here. An Architectural Approach to Level Design This is one of the first books to integrate architectural and spatial design theory with the field of level design. The book presents architectural techniques and theories for level designers to use in their own work. It connects architecture and level design in different ways that address the practical elements of how designers construct space and the experiential elements of how and why humans interact with this space. Throughout the text, readers learn skills for spatial layout, evoking emotion through gamespaces, and creating better levels through architectural theory. View it here. Twix, thats ok I don't pay their type any mind.

That will be a problem then, because everyone you've been speaking to are programmers who make games. You will find it difficult to create games without programmers.

PWNED!

could you develop an upgrade for your add-on that lets me port them to an abacus?

YES, you heard correct! hockey games written in BiGF00Ts 1337BASIC will require so little cpu power that you can play them on every average abacus. this is due to the extremely optimized algorithms it uses.
TOP SECRET SOURCE SNIPPET
1: GOTO 3
2: GOTO 8
3: GOTO 5
4: GOTO 9
5: GOTO 2
6: PRINT "HELO WROLD!!1!"
7: END
8: GOTO 4
9: GOTO 6

it will compile and then compress every program using its fractal compression algorithm so that the compiled exe file will only use 1byte of memory!!1!
Be a hero, use 1337BASIC! chicks love men using 1337BASIC!!

By the way, I'd be glad to sell you my OpenGL 3D engine. I used it to write a shufflepuck game. Hockey is pretty much like a multiplayer shufflepuck.

Only $10K

........... 4 pages, nearing on on 100 posts.... of sarcasm

I feel sorry for everybody who posts honest questions in other forums and has to wait a lot longer for a lot fewer replies because you're all too busy using your 1337 |V|4D insult skills to belittle a pointless thread posted in the wrong place.

Don't get me wrong, vipejc is an idiot, but the waste of time.... it just gets to me every now and then....

As ever,

I know he's a Noob, but come on - let's not scar the kid for life.

He might just go into school one day and kill everyone with an hockey stick - then how you you guys feel??

The OP should feel lucky for having people to ask stupid questions - when I learned programming, the internet wasn't very widespread(I, living in the middle of nowhere, certainly didn't have it, and it was pre-95 so it wasn't widespread anywhere) and the only book on programming I could find was one that included a dos-based microsoft C interpreter/editor(not IDE because there was one source file per program only, and it only included about 20% of the C language) that came on 3 * 5 1/4" floppies. I think win 3.1 was out then, but I never could use it because practically every program required making a specialized dos boot disk with their memory expander loaded and nothing else, etc etc had to walk uphill both ways 3 miles in the snow etc etc...
