I've noticed what looks like a new worm attacking my poor widdull apache web server. This one does a SEARCH followed by LOADS of data. Kind of annoying. I found this and it sounds like the same worm. What interests me is this line:

<Curtman> DrBacchus: I’ve just been using smbclient to connect to them, and printing a warning on their printers. ;)
Now that's an interesting idea. Would that really work? I haven't ever directly worked at smbclient so I have no idea how to do that. Still, it sure sounds tempting...

I connect to my SMB share at my house from the CompSci lab and print stuff out for various reasons such as restricted campus only course notes and the extortion/reliability of the printing services(I have it on a time delay lock so it's a little bit more secure). Just incase you wanted to know =)

It /can/ work, but keep in mind that you're venturing into the murky grey areas of morality (and probably technically illegal, though unlikely to be enforced)

The real question is, do you want people printing things on your printer from across the internet? Even if you've left it wide open for anyone to do? Even if they're warning you about a worm you have?

People start saying different things about the last questions...
