Question on college

Hi everyone, I have a question on college for my fiance. My fiance is wanting to become a game programmer/software engineer. Does anyone know what the good colleges are to study this (computer science)? We live in Michigan and are willing to go to any college in the US, if the cost isn't to high. Do companies care which college you go to? Thanks so much, Amy

http://www.digipen.edu/ is one. http://www.fullsail.com/ is another. those are the only ones i know from memory.
Those are specialised colleges, but I dont know if they are really good colleges.

In most cases compagnies wont care where you learned your stuff, they will concentrate on your experience and realisations. But I know of some compagnies who will not accept people from a certain university, after having hired numerous very bad interns from this place.

So dont go to a terrible university, but I dont think its better to go to an excellent one. Your accomplishements is what counts in the end.
It doesn't matter which college you go to if you have a good source code portfolio [smile]

Thanks so much for your fast replies. Can I ask which universities are bad? so I can stay away.

Thanks,
Amy
Most community colleges and "tech schools" such as ITT Tech
EDIT:
Althought community colleges are a good choice for taking your non-computer classes many lack the resources to produce a good computer science/programming track.

Carnegie Mellon, Brown, UC Berkeley, Dartmouth, University of Washington, and Stanford all have strong CS programs. That's not to say other univeristies are bad at CS, but these have high ratings. They are all fairly presigious and selective, so perhaps a technical college is better.

GotenRulezU and Steadtler have a point though: a good portfolio goes a long way.
If he wants to be in the industry, he should be posting. No offense, just sounds like he is getting off on the wrong foot.
Thanks everyone for the sugguestions we will be looking them up!

Thanks again!!!
Amy

To the Anonymous post, I dont think he is getting off on the wrong foot. He hasn't even posted yet. Why would it matter if I post or he posts?

I think he means that YOU are getting this info for HIM and not HE for HIMSELF. Not showing initiative and all..

As a corollary, it also tends to make people think he doesn't much want to do it if he's not here and sends you instead.
I WISH SOMEONE WOULD FIX THE DAMNED LOGIN!
