Scaling Transformation & Lighting Problem

For some reason, when I apply a scaling transformation to my scene geometry, its lighting gets proportionally dimmed... So a scaling transformation of 5, 5, 5 will result in pretty dark geometry. Seems to occur in all Software, Hardware, PureHardware modes. I have a feeling that I'm missing something fundamental in T&L here, can anyone explain to me what's going on? Thanks

Your normals are probably scaled too with the given transform, have you tried setting the D3DRS_NORMALIZENORMALS render state to TRUE? It should do the trick.
