Expanding the frustum

Hello; Im implementing some shadow volume (from objects) in my terrain, using the Sun (directional, infinite volume) as the light caster...so it i only test if the light is on view, and witch objects r inside that volume, ill get ALL objects casting shadows ( for example, if a spaceship is right above, not inside the view frustum , if u look at the grounf u can see its shadow), but its obvious that wont run very fast... So i wanna expand the frustum, using an amount variable (or % or in meters), to get the objects that could cast shadows in the scene...i read about super frustum , but i didnt find any code to expand it, and i dont wanna a big bounding sphere around the player to do my tests....if anybody could help me...thanx!!
