making a splash screen in direct draw(c++,windows)

I know how to load bitmaps now. but now I am trying to figure out how to use them. I load my title screen now I want to swich to the game screen. How do I do that? I do a clear the screen and load the next map?

well I fugured it out. this is how I got it to work for me.

lpA->Release();

return(1);
}
