minimap question.

i was thinking about making a simple rts with a friend in c++ and directx. what would you say, is it better to have a small picture of the map or to draw single pixels for each different tile? but if i would use a complete (small) pic of the map, then i would have to draw pixels of the units on it (or would that be 1x1 pixel big bitmaps?). what dx function draws a single pixel (d3d)? if i would use a small pic, then my map editor should have the ability to write a bitmap file which contains only one pixel for each tile. that means i need to know how to draw a single pixel either way. thx for the help BiGF00T [Edited by - BiGF00T on November 12, 2004 4:02:03 PM]
