I've written a new article about SoftWire. It focusses on how to take advantage of its new optimizations and features, in the context of a script compiler back-end. The most important new feature is automatic management of local variables. This makes it even easier to implement a symbol table. The optimizations all use a linear approach, i.e. they don't look ahead in the intermediate code. As far as I know this has never been used before. But it proved to work very effectively in swShader, of which I hope to present a new demo in a matter of weeks. I also believe I now have one of the most stable versions of SoftWire ever. http://www.devmaster.net/articles/linear-optimization/ Enjoy!
