Hi i am using x file modes, but it goes for all models actually. I have a bsp/pvs engine setup. i ahve ellipsoid collision detection and response. my ? is this. my model has four different animations, one walking where the y ellipse is roughly 100 units tall. another animatino is swimming, where the x ellipse is 100 units wide. Should i store an ellipse per animation, if so, what happens on a death animation, where he starts out tall, and then dies.....the y goes form tall to small, and the x goes from thin to wide..... thanks much for advice

One method would be to store a bounding ellipse per frame (i.e. one for the head, one for the body, one for each arm, etc) and then you can rotate each ellipse to match the animation frame fairly easily. This would require a total rewrite of the collision code but would solve this problem, not to mention increased precision.

Alteratively you could try to bind the original sphere to say the body frame, and then transform it to match that data. Simpler, but depending on the animation, this may be less accurate.
