question about images

How do I add an image to my posts? I see link and so forth that I cannot figure out they are being done.

That does not tell me how to add a picture or link. It tells me other things that I do not wish to do. Thank you though for trying to help me out.
It's just the normal HTML tag for images. ex:
<img src="http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/images/avatars/925.gif">
becomes:
<img src="http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/images/avatars/925.gif">

By the way, the image has to be in some internet server space. The rest of us can't see your image up there.
