OpenGL Does OpenGL have an equivalent to D3DXIntersect?

I was wondering if OpenGL has a function that will determine if an intersection between a line and the vertex array occurs. If it does, is it done by the CPU or GPU? Also, does D3DXIntersect use the CPU or GPU?
