3DS Max Unwrap UVW problem

I'm trying to learn this mapping technique. I guess I understand the basics but the problem is that in Edit uvw window I can't display the bitmap I'm using. Aligning clusters to existing (it render in viewport) but invisible bitmap is quite frustrating. I checked tutorial file using this modifier and everything works fine there. My 3DMAX version is 5.1. Anybody encountered such problem? Thanks in advance!
