Is there a difference between Borland Delphi and MSVC++ in terms of power? My brother uses Delphi and says its easier than C++, but my question is simply is it better or worse.

Better or worse is completely subjective. All I can say is that Delphi has a good optimizing compiler, which produces equally fast code under most circumstances.
Generally you can say Delphi is more geared towards GUI applications (Rapid Application Development), where C++ tends to take you a little closer to 'the metal'.

There's no 'better or worse' line that can be drawn between C++ and Delphi in terms of a global feature comparison. Delphi beats C++ hands down for RAD and prototyping, but gets a good kick up the behind when it comes down to proper Object Oriented programming and language features.
