What should go in an email / cover-letter?
Hi , i hope this is the right section to post this... if not can someone please forward to the correct location (also if this has already been discussed, a link would be great)... now getting to the point of this post
What should go into an email/cover-letter when applying for a job in the game industry?
I know that the email/cover-letter will change alot due to the actual requirements stated in the job advertisement meaning that there can obviously be no 1 overall template to use for every job application, but just in general what does everyone think should/should'nt be mentioned in the email/cover-letter?
Briefly explain why you think you would be a good fit for their company. This is your one shot at selling yourself.
The cover letter should link the requirements in their job ad to your resume. Point by point is good, it should flow too though and not be totally exhaustive. It should also be a combination of an introduction to, and a summary of, your resume, if you can manage that. ;)
Basically though the idea is to grab their interest and identify exactly why you're the person they want to fill the position, by citing evidence from your resume.
