I have a managed DX engine that I'm looking to use with with an artist to create a game. The problem is that he owns a Mac at home, so obviously there are some compatibility issues. So I'm wondering, has anyone ever tried running DirectX and .NET applications on this software? He has a GeForce FX Go5200 32MB card (laptop). Will DX still be able to use hardware acceleration? I'm completely lost when it comes to Apple world, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. --Vic--

It looks like it's possible, but certainly not practical:

From Microsoft KB Article
Quote:
Microsoft does not recommend the use of Virtual PC as a gaming solution for Macintosh computers because most modern games for personal computers have high performance requirements that cannot be met by using virtual machine emulation.

It appears the VirtualPC emulates everything in software, and does not use any graphical hardware acceleration. Which makes sense, considering that you can run DirectX apps on a Mac.
