how 2 animating mesh models in directx?

Hi guys, I want to know how they animate those mesh models in 3D games like make them run and fight and move their limbs and all. For now I understand oon how to import meshes into my VC++ DirectX 8 program but animatinig them is a whole new subject. I would appreciate any help in the form of ideas, tips, links to tutorials etc on hw to animate meshes in DirectX 8.

If you want boned animations you should look at the "skinnedmesh" and "multianimation" samples in the directx sdk. Its pretty advanced tough. Google for md2 animation if you want something easier.
