3DS Max plugin question

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I'm having trouble figuring this out and the Sparks archive doesn't help me much. If I've got a Mtl * from either an INode or a multimaterial, and I know it is a DX9 shader material, what type do I cast it to? Also, what is the proper class_id to check for? The Sparks archive mentioned that I can cast it to a StdMat2 if the Class_ID is DMTL_CLASS_ID -- but it never is, it's some very odd looking value -- almost as if it was an 8 byte string concatenated into the two DWORDS.

Post the question on Sparks if you haven't already. Also, when you do, give the exact class ID you're getting. Someone there should be able to help you. I don't expect many people here being able to give you an answer.
