Can anybody tell me how to be rid of assertion errors? I get them whenever I try to use a CTabCtrl, Control Box, or List Box controls...I'm at a complete loss for what's going on with these. I've been trying to just add an item to each of them, but none work...instead i get the error. Please, help!!! (and thanks in advance).

An assertion failure means that some code somewhere it doing something that it's not EVER supposed to do.

If the assertions that popup are not ones you wrote, then chances are that they're there to ensure that preconditions for some function you are calling are met. So you are probably passing wrong parameters somewhere.

Assertions are a good thing. They are there to tell you that you are doing something wrong straight away instead of failing later in a hard to debug way. I highly recommend you learn about them and even use them in your own coding.

You'll actually have to tell us what the assertion failure says if you want any more specific help. A few lines of code wouldn't hurt either.
