OpenGL Selecting 2D surfaces

Ok, I've created 2D textured surfaces on my OpenGL window. I've also added mouse support to WndProc. I've also created an object structure for my surfaces. So my question is, how would I detect if I clicked on the surface? And how do I make that surface an object?
