depending on what your background is (if you've used visual c++ 6.0 before), JCreator will feel right at home to you. JCreator's interface is very similar to that of visual c++ 6.0, it feels natural to me.
also on the speed issue, i've used both java and native coded ide's. now you can all argue all you want that the java ones are just as fast as the rest of them, but i can tell you, there is a pretty noticable difference still.
JCreator is written in 100% c++, its got to be one of the fastest ide's i've ever used.
I'm quite curious as to which version of JCreator you've used. I used v2 (i think) for a long time, and then the university where I studied upgraded/adopted v3 across all of the labs.
I liked v2 (very much like VC6 in both looks, feel and features) but v3 destroyed itself. It suddenly became a lot lot slower to load up, the interface became a bit clunky - seemingly like it was redrawing/reloading eachtime you switched documents, and the best bit was that it routinely crashed losing all my work. When this happens to 10, 20, 30+ people that you know you have to assume its the software rather than my (our) fault.
Granted, that lost them my vote and I wont be going back now that I've found eclipse. Maybe the version the lab used had some issues that have now been resolved and the universe is happy again, but I can't say I personally care to find out [grin].
