I'm just under 14 years old, but have a great interest in 3d art, specifically for video games. I decided it was wise for me to start learning early, and here's some of what I've got: This is some of my work in Maya6ple: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/SupRore/Send.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/SupRore/Glowy1337boardroom.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/SupRore/YuugiAtemuRoomDarkandstormyLowres.jpg And here's some of my low polygon work in GMAX, practicing for a video game mod: SVD Dragunov(780Polys): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/SupRore/LowpolySVDWscope.jpg Unfinished VZ61 skorpion(1800Polys): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/SupRore/Skorpionvz61.jpg

Looks Really Good, I Know It Probably Isnt Too Easy Learning Maya right now with few resources because of your age. Im 16, and at the moment, I have very few choices of places to learn new material. A great Place To Start on your journy is 3dbuzz.com. It Has free Video Tutorials on Maya and 3ds MAX(Which will help you learn GMAX) another great place is 3d-palace.com. If you have any questions on GMAX (I AM CURRENTLY USING 3ds MAX 7) let me know and Maybe i can help.

Just Remember To Stick With It
Your low poly models look great. However, computers and consoles are getting better and better. I'd throw a few more sides in there around the stock and barrel. Those would cost about 30 extra polygons - so nothing huge - but itll make it look alot more realistic. One thing to remember is that in the real world, there are rarely straight lines. If anything, use some better textures that create an illusiont hat erase those sharp edges.

Oh, also. Its pretty cool that you're 13ish and you have a basic concept of low poly modeling for games. You seem to have it together pretty well for your age, so seriously stick with it.

Im losing the popularity contest. $rating --;
Thanks for the input. The mod I will be helping is trying to stay really low polygon with it's weapon models, so I'm really limited on the barrel and stock. If I were working with a few more, I'd have used more sides on the barrel and chamfered the stock.
