You most probably DONT want to do this using algorithms (if it were even possible), so your solution is in two distinct parts:

1. You'll need to get the source model for your helicopter. You can either find yourself an artist that'll make you one, download it from a freeware site (such as 3dcafe.com) or make it yourself if you're skilled enough.

2. Once you have some data/model to play around with, you need to read through the DX SDK on loading meshes. Theres a couple of good samples, and for static meshes its very very easy. It's only when you want to deal with animation that it gets tricky (but that would also complicated step #1).

TurboSquid is also a great place to find free artwork (although the majority costs $$$). Just do an Advanced Search and set 'Maximum Price' to 0. They have some pretty high-quality stuff.
