Keyboard/mouse input without WndProc?

I'm writing a keyboard/mouse input handler class for my game. It will be on windows only. But I need this class to be seperate from all of the windows variables so i cant get the input with WndProc. Any suggestions?

Look into this function:

SHORT GetAsyncKeyState(
int vKey // virtual-key code
);
