NoOb Ahoy! Camera Collision

So finally I opened up VC++ 6 for DX8.1 I was modifying a file compiled before when I realised that the D3DXIntersect function compares intersection of two mesh and that it is not good for checking camera intersection with mesh(walls similar to FPS type). Now I am thinking of doing this. I will get the pos of the camera in 3D space and set a dummy box in that pos and actually compare the dummy box by D3DXIntersect for intersection.But I think this is a tedious. I am sure there must be some function to compare collisions of camera with walls ,Please give me some info of camera collision checking methods similar to D3DXIntersect or What to do thingy?
