.BMP, JPG, GIF with DirectX?

IRC, *.gif files aren't supported by Dx, but I'm checking to make sure.

EDIT: Okay, there is a way to use them, still figuring out how. It looks like its an external library.

I don't think so, unless you find/write some sort of function/library to get the transparant color.
Better use either alpha channnels (*.tga for example) or a key color when creating a texture.

I think one way you could acheive utilizing GIFs is by loading the file, and 'converting' it to a Bitmap in the memory. Just look up the file format (try wotsit.org), and use some file streaming. However, using the library might be a better idea.
