I have had my website for almost a year now, but i fail to attract more then a few people a month. I was wondering if some of you could take a look at my site and see if theres anything i could improve: Quest Entertainment right now i have a few flash and Java games from other sites, but i am in the proscess of writing my own. I also have it listed on google. if anybody could tell me anything on my site i could improve and how to attract more visitors I would appreciate it.

First try to get lots of dynamic content. just things that change. also try to get content on it.

Yo ucould also try advertising. Thats the thing with forums, the more popular it is, the more people go onto it.

make some of your own content... IMHO, only content matters. Then people will link to you :-)

And, sig:

Lose the ads, don't nick other peoples' games, just make your own and put them on.

Real content is what matters.

If you can, tell school kids about your site. Kids would rather play online games than do work.

Word will travel faster than you can imagine.

Hand out free pr0n.

But seriously, check out the developer section of Dexterity, a shareware games publisher who is also a very active member of the shareware community. He has some great articles about improving your sales. They also mention methods of improving traffic to your site.

ok, thanks for the tips. im currently developing a few java games, so content shouldnt be a problem. i would like it to be brighter too, but i cannot find a good template i like. i cant get rid of the ads becuase my host puts them there, and i would prefer not to change. any more tips would also be welcome. also, my sig doesnt seem to be working. can you guys see it?

Marketing a website is in some senses very much like marketing a product or service. First define your target audience clearly, which type of people are your website for?

How do you reach your audience? Is there any special websites that your audience like? Advertise on them or try to obtain a link echange.

Then you have to go into search engine submissions. It's a whole science, right now focus on Google as many people are using the service. There is also a ton of sites about search engines. Don't forget to submit to the directories such as Dmoz and so on.

Good luck!

No. Do you tick the box marked "Check here to include your profile signature." when you post?

Actually go out and buy yourself a domain name and a website? They are as low as $9.95/month.
Don't be cheap. I don't really care for a HUGE AD that takes up half my screen.

The text could be a bit brighter. Maybe something to contrast it better against the background color.

I can recommend www.nearlyfreespeech.net as a host. So far it's cost me 12 cents for 2500 hits, but my site is particularly low-bandwidth.

As previous post has suggested content is the main feature you should focus on.

Some things you could do to get more visitors:

-Contact similar sites and exchange links
-Join a webring
-Join a banner exchange program such as linkbuddies (the effectivity of these exchanges vary)
-Submit to directories such as Dmoz.org.
-Submit to search engines.
-Put your homepage adress as signatures in e-mails you send out and on everything else you do.

None free alternatives:
-Pay for inclusion in Yahoo.
-Advertise on the web but also offline.

All that I could think of right now :)

Good luck!
