VC++ 2005 and VC6 projects
Hi. I recently installed Visual C++ Express 2005 Beta on my computer since the new DirectX update has lost support for Visual C++ 6 (conveniently when I started getting some positive results in VC6). Right now, as it is, all the projects which before worked perfectly can no longer be compiled for one reason or another (can't find windows.h, can't find d3dx9.h, etc)
How can I fix this problem?
VCExpress doesn't come with the Platform SDK (windows.h and such). You'll have to install it and the DX SDK from:

I installed the Microsoft C++ Toolkit 2003 and pointed the VC6 IDE to it's executables directory and it works just fine, the only difference is that I get a warning about PDBs, but that's easily fixed in project settings under the link tab by eraseing the /pdbtype parameter from the list.
I had the same problem startreky. Follow the steps outlined in this document and you should be fine:
