DXUtil Question

I am going through the DX framework provided with the SDK. In the User Interface example the following function call is in WinMain(): DXUTCreateWindow( L"CustomUI" ); Can someone explain to me what the L is? I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't understand how L"CustomUI" is valid syntax. Thanks Todd
