i have a file i need to read that has an asci header, then binary data. I want to read the header information into one buffer, and the binary information into another. My question is, do I need to do a freopen() or something between the fread()s for both buffers? do i need to "switch modes" from ASCI to Binary before moving from the header to the binary data? not a super hard question ;) thanks

On most Windows systems fread in text mode will translate \r\n pairs to \n. Otherwise it's the same as binary.
