What is the best and most popular flash-movie format that will work on nearly all computers out there? I've exported a flash movie into .mov format and several people aren't able to view it. I've tried saving it as a Swish[.swf] and most people had trouble viewing that also. Btw I invoked the movies into an html file through Dreamweaver MX. Is it just me or do few people even have a flash plugin? Note : I know .mov isn't really flash but it works exactly like a flash movie when exported from the Flash MX application[rollovers are still there, functions coded in ActionScript still work, etc.]

Most people use the .swf format for putting flash Movies on the web. The user must though have the Flash Plug-in in order to view the movies though. I know IE comes pre packaged with a flash plug-in, but unfortunitly FireFox and Mozilla do not (the user has to download and install them).

My suggestion is to post a link to the macromedia plug-in site on your HTML doccument - that way the user can go to your page and then decide to either download the plug-in or just not watch your movie.

Also note that if your using Flash MX 2004, some features will require the latest and greatest plug in ion order to view those movies.

Stick with the SWF file format though for anything in Flash (.mov files require quicktime).

good luck!

I don't want to waste webspace by creating a whole new topic but is there a function that returns which frame you're currently on[ActionScript]?

I've been looking all over the reference files that came with Flash MX and can't find anything like that.

[Edit] Nevermind, found it.
