just a question i am uding wxWidgets and using precompiled header file for my engine, would it not make sense just to put all my header file in the precolied one and just have evry other file in my engine just have the precomiled header or would that cuase something bad?

Theoretically, it would lead to faster compiles.

In reality, PCH breaks a lot of stuff. Occasionally it won't detect some header change and you'll have to rebuild your entire project. Or it will just get messed up somehow. The best thing to do is to just avoid PCH.

I've never had trouble with PCH files. Just don't put everyhting in them else you'll do a full rebuild whenever you change any header which defeats the objective of PCHs. Ideally, put core stuff in there that isn't going to change much (standard headers, third party library headers and so on).

On windows pch's never detect a header file change, they're not meant to. ON OS X they do detect it an it causes a recompile.
