Hey guys I have been programming for about a year now and we decided to make a multiplayer shooter that could be played over a network, but I have no idea where to start. I have done a little bit of networking in Java but we are programming it in C++. Anyways, what libraries do I need to start networking in C++, also does anyone know of a site with any tutorials on the matter? Thanks in advance.

google for "beej's network tutorial". also, i recommend using a high level library, RakNet is my favorite. it also has tutorials on getting started with the library. dont forget to check out the multiplayer forum FAQ either.

there are some good tuts in there. Also search google for winsock and msdn. I used a lot of resources, and mixed it together. Now Im working on a graphical interface for it.

Tip, start with a simple chat program, and then move on to graphical.
