C# and DirectX
Im in the process of catching up with the times and learning c# with DirectX.
Well my question is wether Longhorn will have built in DirectX support, meaning will everybody be able to run C# DirectX apps on Windows Longhorn.
Yes. In fact, I think it's being renamed to WGF (Windows Graphic Foundation), as it's a core component of Longhorn. And I've heard that they might release an XP service pack or whatnot that will add WGF for XP as well.
Of course, you already can depend on DirectX existing on Windows anyway. XP original came shipped with 8.0 or 8.1, I believe, and probably now gets shipped with 9.0. Older versions of Windows are probably guaranteed to at minimum have certain older versions installed, too. I don't remember the details.
But if you want to work exclusively with Windows, and are especially focusing on the near future with Longhorn, then yeah, learning C#/DirectX would be an incredibly appropriate task to undertake.
