splitscreen & multi display

I have been looking for some stuff about how you would deal with split- and quad screen in directx, and how I should prepare for it in the win32 part. But there seems to be little info about it. A more important issue right now is how I should deal with a user/computer that have more than 1 monitor, and how to take advantage of it. The msdn have a few things about it, but little examplecode, or tutorials. Somebody who knows about stuff here?
