platform game enemies

I am coding a side scrolling platform game with C and Allegro. I'm using Mappy as my map editor. My question is, how can I place the enemy within the map at a good location if I don't have an array representing the map?

I assume your using the Mappy sdk? Doens't it have a way to tell you about the tiles for collison detection for example?

You might try posting this in the 'alternative libs' forum since allegro and the mappy sdk fall under that category....
