Flat Shaded Meshes

Hey, i got a problem with shading. Even though i set the render state of my 3D device to the gouraud shade mode all my loaded x-file meshes have a kind of flat shading but i want them smooth. Check out the link below for a picture of what i mean: http://www.posergallery.com/wip/20050209-hexgear-212.241.231.70.jpg The custom ground object (created from scratch not loaded) shades fine but the loaded x-file sphere doesn't, any ideas on how to solve this problem? By the way i'm using the DirectX 8.1 SDK.

Look into the model's normals. I think you'll find that they are all perpendicular to the triangles' faces. What you need are normals that are averaged by the faces around them....

Yeah i understood... thanks a lot, i've fixed the mesh normals now and it looks fine!
