Meshes used without .x files?

Every example I read shows loading Meshes from .x files. Is it possible to create a mesh object using a custom file format? I would like to have access to the optimize feature and other abilities already written in the Mesh class but find no info on loading a custom format into one. Thanks for any response, Webby

I've not needed to do it, but if you just create a new ID3DXMesh object and use the LockVertexBuffer, LockIndexBuffer and create the appropriate Attribute table entries you should be able to construct your own Mesh from whatever data you see fit.

I don't think theres a simple way as such - it is a bit involved!
