Triangle List slow or inefficent?

I know triangle lists end up consuming alot of space because they dont share vertices, when compared to triangle strips, but are the also that much slower? Thanks for the info in advance, Lep

The main overhead/drawback is that there are many more vertices being sent through the tranformation/rendering pipeline.

Triangle strips eliminate this redundancy (after all, what''s the point of transforming a vertex multiple times, when you''ll always get the same result?)

Just as an idea, when using OpenGL, i think its 2.5 times faster to draw with tri-strips than just specifying triangles one at a time (but don''t quote me on it... i''m notoriously unreliable sometimes )
