VC++ 6 crashing when compiling

I've had VC++ 6 for a couple of years now and not really had any trouble with it. But just lately it has been crashing at compile/build time if there are errors in my code. This is obviously a real pain. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this? I don't think I've done anything to cause this... All help will be appriciated

I strongly suggest downloading the latest serivce pack. It did wonders for me.
